Abstract

This study presents an experimental analysis of the effect of load variation on the speed characteristics of a DC motor under constant supply voltage conditions. The experiment was conducted using a DC motor testing system consisting of a DC power supply, measuring instruments, tachometer, and mechanical loading system. During the testing process, the mechanical load was varied gradually from no-load condition to full-load condition while the motor voltage, current, and rotational speed were measured and recorded. The experimental results showed that increasing the mechanical load caused the motor current to increase progressively, whereas the rotational speed decreased correspondingly. Under no-load condition, the motor achieved the highest rotational speed of 1500 RPM, while at full-load condition the speed decreased to 1130 RPM with increased current consumption. The results indicate that mechanical load variation significantly affects the operational characteristics of the DC motor. In addition, the experimental observations demonstrated that the DC motor maintained relatively stable operation under varying loading conditions. Overall, the study confirms the relationship between mechanical load, motor current, and rotational speed characteristics of DC motors through direct experimental measurement.
